Overthinking motherhood, writing & everything in between since 2010

My Books

Part one of soft sci-fi trilogy Take Her Back, The Girl with the Green Eyes tells the story of Bella D’accourt, a genetically engineered ‘designer baby’ whose emerging sinister traits lead her parents to hand her over to strangers when she is a child.

Long-listed for The Bridport Prize: Peggy Chapman-Andrews First Novel award in 2020 (reaching the top 20 of more than 1600 entrants) the novel was published in November 2021 by BAD PRESS iNK.

Since then it has reached the top 10 of an Amazon Bestseller list and been featured on Times Radio with Mariella Frostrup (see below).

Book two, The Child Left in the Dark, was published in autumn 2022 and book three, The Voice that Twists the Knife followed in 2024.

Praise for Take Her Back:

“An impressive young novelist who should be on your radar” – Mariella Frostrup, Times Radio

“Brilliantly written, so many threads running through the storyline. The author is a master of keeping everything moving along until it all comes together perfectly.”

“The Girl with the Green Eyes is wonderfully written, seamlessly flitting between two time frames, with fantastic pieces of description throughout. Highly recommended.”

“OMG! If you thought the first book was good you need to read book 2. I have run the gamut of emotions reading it and am totally wired and DESPERATE to read book 3. I am not commenting on the plot/story-line, don’t want to give anything away but I’ll just say READ it, it’s great!”

“I loved this trilogy and the genetic engineering premise. I’d recommend reading the books in order as each builds on the last. This for me was one of the best as it left me wanting more and waoting for the final book in the trilogy. These are well written, engaging and each book leaves you wanting more!”

“Had the pleasure of reading this series on The Pigeonhole. [The Voice that Twists the Knife] is a fantastic ending to a fantastic series. Everything you want and more. Heartbreak, drama, revenge and justice all rolled into one.”

The book is available now from Amazon and all good bookshops. For more information, check out the book trailer below and visit my author page: www.jmbriscoe.co.uk

I’m Jenny

I started this blog in 2010 as part of my journalism studies and have been loudly overthinking here ever since. What began as a student project has grown to encompass (somewhat unexpected) motherhood, publishing novels and building a freelance editorial career. This is a space where I navigate life’s ups, downs and messy in-betweens and attempt not to take any of it too seriously.
Thank you for reading :)
